Locating used dump trucks for sale is a great way to get started in the excavating business.  Sure, you would like to have shiny new trucks to impress everyone as you're getting started. However, it will be wiser for you to start with used equipment and then build up as you go.

The great thing about buying used dump trucks is that they will already be broken in.  You will know you have a good truck when you can know just how many hours are on the truck.  You will want to see all of the maintenance records before you sign on the dotted line.  Take the time to inspect the brakes and the hydraulics.  The box will need to be in solid condition.

Many times in buying used dump trucks, the side boards may need to be repaired.  Often while loading a dump trucks, the loader will come down on top of the side boards and cause damage.  Often as large as two-by-twelves, they are easy to replace with just a little cutting and painting.  The bolts have to be taken out, the old boards removed and discarded, and the new boards put in place.  Once again, the truck looks brand new.  Another thing you will want to look at is the mud flaps.  When you are buying used dump trucks for sale , mud flaps may be missing and you do not want to get a ticket while driving the truck back to your place of business.
